Jillian McIntosh

Jillian McIntoshJillian spent her early years riding her mother's retired show stallion, Kaweah Navajo. A special bond was formed between that special stallion and the young child, that when Navajo passed on, Jillian was determined to have a horse of her own. At seven, she got her very own horse. From there her love for horses grew into an obsession. Jillian participated in drill team competition, dressage trials and was even a Rodeo Princess presenting her horsemanship at Rodeos. There wasn't a day that went by that she wasn't on the back of a horse -- training, riding, enjoying.

Several different horse breeds have accompanied Jillian throughout her life, but none have touched her as deeply as the Kiger. Jillian was introduced to Kigers in winter of 1999 and she has owned them ever since. Jillian has a Bachelor's degree in biology and forensic chemistry and has a natural fascination with genetics. She has used her schooling to develop certain traits in her Dairy goats and Shetland sheep that have won her breeding operation accolades and awards over the past fifteen years. She has been developing a similar program in her Kigers.

Jillian is a multi-business co-owner operating a successful breeding operation of Karisma Kigers and Luckytohave Farm and enjoys using her skills in graphic design to market, promote and present the Kiger horse and her other livestock. She also has the experience of being on organizational boards in the past.

Jillian is focused on preserving the Kiger breed type as well as the magnificent movement and minds of the Kiger horse. She brings a dedication and commitment to the breed that is unwavering. She enjoys meeting new people that are interested in learning more about the breed and its history and freely shares her knowledge. Jillian and her husband Norman have done extensive research into the BLM documentation of the Kiger horse and is currently compiling it into published form.

Jillian will be an asset to the KHAR for her dedication, commitment and knowledge of the Kiger breed and her willingness to share her love of the Kiger breed with the interested public and new members. She has many skills that she brings to the table and is excited about this new organization.

Maybe you will see Jillian out on the trail conditioning her new endurance prospects. If you do, come say hello!
