Below are portions of the 1996 BLM Management Plan for the horses residing in Kiger and Riddle HMAs. The entire Plan can be
seen below by clicking on individual Plan pages. We have placed this on our website as a means to supply factual data regarding
the selection and management of the Kiger horse under BLM's care. It is our understanding that this is the current Management
Plan in force today. The KHAR registration requirements are based on the information found in these two documents.
This portion shows that Kiger and
Riddle HMAs are designated as an
'Area of Critical Environmental
Concern'.
It also shows that the "primary
management goal of the Kiger
Mustang ACEC is to perpetuate and
protect the conformation and dun
factor color characteristics...".
This portion shows that the
Objectives set for the horses within
the Kiger and Riddle HMAs.

gathered. Note the first paragraph
that states "Gatherings will be

not fall within the herd objectives.)

gather protocol for horses in
Kiger/Riddle. Note at the end of the
paragraph that states, "A few
animals may be relocated to other
HMAs.".
